Professional Assistance for Your Computer and Networking Needs
How much?
Prior to any work being performed, I can typically provide you with an estimate of expenses for any components that may need to be purchased for a repair or upgrade. Also, based on services required, I can estimate the amount of time I expect to work on it "hands-on".
I charge $60 an hour, billed in 15 minute increments, and I only count the time I am actively touching the equipment. That means I am not "on the clock" when I am performing virus scans, backing up a system, downloading updates, installing an operating system, rebooting, or defragmenting a hard drive. I am charging for time I am installing or configuring software, disassembling or reassembling a device, running or terminating cable, configuring or testing network components for connectivity, writing code, am remoted into a client computer, researching or shopping for replacement or upgrade parts, and pretty much any other time I am solely dedicated to working on your issue.
From past history, most jobs are completed between 30 and 90 minutes. Some jobs such as component upgrades, laptop keyboard replacement, and virus removal may be 15 to 30 minutes. And other more intensive jobs such as custom system builds, system rebuilds, and data recovery efforts may take 1 to 2 hours.
If you have special circumstances that make it difficult for you to afford my services, please discuss them with me, and I will see if we can work something out. Or, if you request same-day service or on-site service, I may request you pay a nominal fee to compensate me for any inconvenience to my regular schedule it may cause.
