Who am I?
Hello, I am Mike. I am an engineer by education, have worked over 25 years in Information Technology, and I am also a husband and a father.
I have been working with computers since I was a kid: writing code in BASIC, using Apple IIe computers in school, learning machine language on my Commodore 64, programming my scientific calculator to solve simultaneous equations, writing code in FORTRAN 77 on a VAX, and during my "PC era" I have worked with DOS, every version of Microsoft Windows, and now I dabble in Linux (Ubuntu being my preferred distro).
For as long as I can remember, I have been taking things apart and repairing them. I probably gained confidence in my ability to repair things in my high school electronics classes. Over the years, I have repaired appliances, stereos, televisions, DVR's, and of course worked on many, many computers — replacing power jacks, cooling fans, LCD panels, and keyboards in laptops; whole motherboard replacements; CPU upgrades; installed liquid cooling systems; and lots of virus removals and repairs and data recovery.
